I found it!! I have a wonderful collection of pottery from my Grandmother, but never knew what it was. Well here it is... Franciscan Ware. Manufactured by Gladding-McBean & Co. of Glendale, Ca. My beautiful Aqua pattern was first introduced 1936 and was one of the earliest patterns by the company. Now the fun starts... adding to my collection.

Now that's a Nut Cracker!

I took the kids downtown for hot chocolate last night and the stores on the main street have these guys at their front doors to greet everyone. You've got to love the cheer in a small town.

December is here. That means it's candy cane season! Those red and white bundles of delicious peppermint signal the beginning of the holidays. I can't resist the hypnotic red and white swirls of minty goodness. I LOVE peppermint. I can't get enough of it. Peppermint bark, peppermint kisses, dipped in hot cocoa, peppermint pie, peppermint marshmallows, peppermint ice cream, or just eaten the old fashioned way. So make a fire, pull up a cup of cocoa, a good book, and join us in the holiday spirit

Did you know that vegetables are good? This coming from a vegetarian who really does'nt like them. That leaves carbs and cheese, and that's not okay. You can't get very far in Weight Watchers on that. So I have decided to made friends with zucchini, mushrooms, spaghetti squash, bell peppers, asparagus, and whole wheat pasta. Guess what? I like them. Next week I will attempt spinach. Spinach soup, spinach fritatta, spinach puffs...I am collecting the recipes as we speak.

Bottle caps, bottle caps...

I just purchased a bag of blank bottle caps with the intention of making necklace pendants. Bottle cap + resin = pendant. They will probaby sit on my craft table staring at me until I break down and give it a try. I have so many projects going I can hardly keep track of them.

As the weather gets warm it's time for a pitcher of cold lemonade.

5 Lemons

1 C sugar

1 C boiling water

~scrub and grate rine off lemons. Set aside in large bowl. Squeeze lemons and set juice aside. Add 1 C sugar to coat lemon peels completely. Let stand for 25 minutes. Add boiling water to peel/sugar mixture. Once the suger is disolved strain peels from liquid and let cool. Combine mixture with lemon juice in pitcher. Add cold water and ice to desired taste.
